I've tutored a wide range of mathematics for students with various goals. I have tutored basic arithmetic to elementary school students, calculus to college students, and nearly everything in between. My sessions are almost always conversational--that is, we spend most of the time talking through concepts and problems rather than staring at a sheet of paper. This approach builds confidence in students and boosts mental math skills. When the time comes for the exam, students often report having little to no difficulty. Usually what happens is I catch the student up on the current material, and then we begin to work ahead. Classwork ends up being a review for the students. In fact, this has happened with every long term student I have worked with.
